New Website Released!

08 July 2025

See what's new and what's moved in my 2025 redesign of my personal webpage!

What’s the motivation?

It’s been nearly two years since my last personal website design, and a lot has changed with me, my needs, and my endeavours since then. My previous design had a playful design which reflected my playful early university days and was aimed at showcasing personal projects. Since then, I’ve taken on multiple jobs and volunteering opportunities, giving me plenty of experience and a chance to learn important lessons about myself and other people. I am now in a position where my aim is to provide a good range of services and give impact through my works.

You’ll notice that this site has moved away from the purely playful design into a more professional look, but still unique. The heading font has also changed. I’ve tried to preserve some playfulness where I can, by adding in splashes of colors here and there, and using assets. I’ve also tried to emphasize images and content whenever I can, letting control components get out of the way. The navbar has been moved down and no longer stretches across the length of the page, for example. I hope this results in a tidier design that aligns more with sensible UI design.

This was a really fun project with many new design and implementation challenges, as the styling techniques used here are more advanced than on my previous website! Buttons now look raised and appear visibly pressed when you, well, press them. I’ve tried to use borders as little as possible (in fact, I think the site currently has no borders) and that came with its own challenges as well. I tried to maximize the use of rounding this time, while giving it my own unique splash (I don’t wanna just copy Liquid Glass). AI was not used in the design process of this redesign (get it? hehe), so this design is the result of pure creativity and peer suggestions. I’m attempting to aim for a unique look that isn’t too hard to implement.

If you want to check my old website, I’ve fired up a Vercel site just for that. Visit this link so that you can make the comparison for yourself!

What’s new?

New Hero header in the homepage

This is a big emphasis of this redesign. This is a free place for me to put really nice pictures and inform you all about important stuff I’m involved with (and maybe even opportunities for you in the future).

New Services section

This is the section where I offer my available services and give contacts for where you can reach out to me about them. A preview is available through a carousel of cards in the homepage, which can redirect you to the main pages showing you my portfolio for each category of service I provide - Professional and Semi-Professional services.

What’s moved?

Most content that was previously here, is actually still here. My social media links are still on the homepage, just moved up and redesigned. The Markdown repository previews have been moved into the Professional Services section of the site. Same goes with my GitHub markdown preview, as my GitHub markdown only needs to represent the programming part of my services. The Repositories page no longer lives on the navbar, but can be accessed through the Professional Services page.

What’s gone?

The large “featured repository” banner has been removed, making way for a future redesign where I feature my newest works.
